MEDIA RELEASE – for immediate use.

Withdrawal Forces Team Re-vamp.

A medical condition requiring treatment in Australia has forced the withdrawal of 4 goal player Ed Goold from Australia's World Cup Polo squad.

With the finals starting on October 10th there were no other 4 goal players available due to commitments in Australia, and with the squad already containing two 5 goal players , the only possible replacement was a player with a 2 goal handicap.

Jasper White, a reserve for the team which successfully qualified in the play-offs in Malaysia earlier in the year and plays off 2 goals, was also unavailable so his brother Will White, who was already going to be in Argentina to play, was added to the squad.

The Australian team plays its first game on Thursday October 13th against current World Champions Brazil, so a win would certainly see them amongst the favourites to equal or better their runners-up performance in the 2001 World Cup held in Melbourne.
