The Australian Polo Federation (APF) wishes to advise all clubs, players, officials, and stakeholders that the use of electric wheel (e-wheel) devices in any form is strictly prohibited at all APF-sanctioned events, including tournaments, practice matches, exhibitions, and official training sessions.
This position has been adopted primarily due to insurance and liability considerations. The APF is currently in communication with our insurers to explore whether any form of appropriate coverage can be established for e-wheel polo activities. However, this process is ongoing and may take some time to resolve.
Until such time as suitable insurance arrangements are confirmed and formal approval is provided by the APF, e-wheel devices remain classified as non-approved equipment. Their use at any APF-sanctioned event may invalidate existing insurance policies and expose both individuals and affiliated clubs to significant liability in the event of an incident.
Accordingly, all clubs are required to enforce this prohibition during APF sanctioned events without exception to ensure continued compliance with APF insurance requirements and risk management obligations.
We will provide further updates should the status of e-wheel polo change in the future.
Thank you for your cooperation.
