Australian Polo Federation

Rule Change effective 1 July 2021

ANNEX C - TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS, PLAYER ELIGIBILITY AND TEAM ENTRIES

We wish to advise all players of the recent Rule Changes to Annex C1, Tournament Conditions. In summary:

  • The Tournament committee will no longer have discretion to allow teams to play above the maximum  handicap level for that tournament.
  • The rule change also provides that a player whose handicap is raised mid-season will only be able to play off their old handicap for the duration of the tournament they are playing in when their handicap is raised.

You can read the full rules change at: www.polorules.com - search C1.

C1. TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS:

The handicap limits on teams and individual players set out below apply for all tournaments.
C1 TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS 2021

In a 12g tournament a -1 player may not play with three other players worth 13 goals. The handicap of a -1 player shall be included in the team’s total handicap to decide any handicap start at the beginning of a game.

  1. a team will only be allowed to play over the handicap limit with a player raised during the season for the duration of the tournament the team is currently playing in when the player's handicap is raised and
  2. a player raised during the season will only be allowed to play off their previous handicap for the duration of the tournament they are currently playing in when their handicap is raised.
